Staying Safe Tips

Connecting with new people is exciting, but you always need to be cautious when engaging with someone you don’t know. You need to use your judgment and always put your safety first. You cannot control the actions of others. However, you can take precautions to help you stay safe during your TMP experience.

Online Safety

  • Do Not Send Money or Disclose Financial Information

Do not send money, even if the person claims to be in an emergency. Do not disclose any financial information or any information about your accounts. If another user asks you for money or any financial information, report it to us immediately.

  • Do Not Share Your Personal Information

Never share personal information, such as your ID number, passport number, social security number, home or work address, or details about your daily routine (e.g., that you go to a specific yoga class every Wednesday) with people you do not  know.

  • Connect on the Platform

Keep conversations on the TMP platform while you’re getting to know your new connection. Users that have altera motives, often try to move the conversation off the platform from the beginning.

  • If You Feel Uncomfortable Report It
    • When you feel someone has crossed the line, you need to contact us. Block and report anyone that contravenes our terms. Some examples of contraventions are as follows:
    • Requests for money, donations or financial information
    • Users under the age of 18
    • Harassment, threats, and offensive messages
    • Misleading or false profiles
    • Spam or solicitation including links to commercial websites or attempts to sell products or services

Report any concerns about suspicious behaviour to us at info@themeetingplace.co.za. For more information, visit our Community Guidelines.

  • Secure Your Account

Pick a strong password, and always be careful when logging into your account from a public or shared computer. TMP will never send you an email asking for your username and password information — if you receive an email asking for account information, report it immediately.
